Advice

How to choose?

When choosing a car seat for children from 40 to 87 cm (Group 0+), pay attention to the following:

  • An ergonomic newborn insert provides additional support for the head, neck, and spine in the first months.
  • Rear-facing installation is considered the safest way to transport an infant.
  • The seat can be installed using the ISOFIX system or the vehicle's seat belt – check what is available for the chosen model.
  • Some models also function as a carry cot, making it easier to carry the child out of the car.
  • Check for i-Size standard certification.
FAQ

What you want to know

Up to what height is a 40–87 cm (Group 0+) car seat suitable?
Generally up to approximately 87 cm or 13 kg, but the exact limit depends on the specific model and is stated in the product specification.
Is a 40–87 cm car seat always rear-facing?
Yes, i-Size seats for children up to 87 cm are generally installed rear-facing, which is also the recommended and safest way of transport.
Can I use the car seat without an Isofix base?
Many models can also be installed using the vehicle's seat belt, while an Isofix base makes installation easier and faster – check compatibility for the specific product.
More about Car seats 40–87 cm (group 0+)

Infant carriers (car seats 40–87 cm, i-Size group 0+) are a newborn's first car seat – from birth to about 15 months, always rear-facing. They are light and portable, click into the car in seconds with an Isofix base and attach to a pushchair with adapters.

Infant carrier FAQ

How long can a baby stay in an infant carrier?

An infant carrier is designed for travel, not for sleeping outside the car. Manufacturers recommend a break at least every 2 hours of driving, more often with newborns – take your baby out of the seat so they can stretch.

When should we move up from the infant carrier?

When your baby reaches the maximum height on the label (usually 75–87 cm) or the top of the head reaches the edge of the shell. Make sure the next seat also allows rear-facing travel. Car seats 40–105 cm →

Can I attach the infant carrier to my pushchair?

Most infant carriers fit the pushchair frame of the same or a compatible brand with adapters, and some without. Check compatibility with your pushchair model. Car seat adapters →

Infant carrier or reboarder from birth?

An infant carrier is lighter and portable – you can carry a sleeping baby out of the car. A 40–105 cm reboarder stays in the car until about 4 years, so it is one purchase for longer, but it cannot be carried. Many parents choose an infant carrier first and then a reboarder.
