When to choose a silicone bowl
When your baby starts reaching for food during weaning, a suction bowl stays put and is harder to tip over. Suction works best on a smooth, dry, clean surface such as a high chair tray. Silicone is soft and won’t break if dropped. Mushie silicone suction plates, including a three-section version, are made from the same material.
When to choose a polypropylene bowl
PP bowls are rigid, light and larger (430 ml), so they are handy for spoon-fed purées, yoghurt or cereal for older toddlers. They come as a set of two identical bowls and match the Mushie plate set in the same material.
Cleaning and heating: what to watch
- Wash the bowl before first use.
- According to the manufacturer, both silicone and PP bowls are dishwasher safe; put silicone items on the top rack.
