Advice

How to choose?

Besides the correct size, a few other details matter when choosing a helmet for the youngest children:

  • Measuring the head: measure the head circumference just above the eyebrows; for borderline values, choose a helmet with an adjustable dial.
  • Helmet weight: lighter helmets are more comfortable for small children, who are more willing to wear them for longer.
  • Easy fastening: the chin strap should be comfortable for the child to wear while staying securely fastened during riding.
  • Visibility: bright colors and reflective elements improve the child's visibility in traffic or on the playground.
  • Extra features: some models have a built-in light or reflective strips, which is useful when riding at dusk.
FAQ

What you want to know

From what age is a 45-51 cm helmet suitable?
This size is usually intended for the youngest children who are just learning to ride a balance bike or scooter. It's best to check the correct size by measuring head circumference, since children of the same age can vary quite a bit.
Does a helmet with a light require special maintenance?
Helmets with a built-in light usually only need occasional battery replacement, while the helmet itself is maintained the same as any other - by cleaning with mild soapy water and storing it out of direct sunlight.
How do I know if the helmet is still the right size?
The helmet should not press on the head or shift when the child shakes their head. If the adjustable dial is fully tightened and the helmet still slides slightly, it's time for the next size up.
