Jollein baby sleeping bags – safe and comfortable sleep for your baby

Jollein spalne vreče - Varnost in udobje za vašega dojenčka - Evitas

In short: Jollein baby sleeping bags are a safe alternative to loose blankets: your baby can't pull them over their face or kick them off at night. At Evitas they come in 60, 70, 90 and 110 cm lengths and two warmth levels: breathable 0.5 TOG bags for warm nights and cosy 3.0–3.5 TOG bags with removable sleeves for cooler rooms. Choose by nursery temperature and your baby's size.

Why a sleeping bag instead of a blanket?

A baby sleeping bag is one of the most widely recommended ways to help your baby sleep safely. The benefits are both practical and safety-related:

  • Safer sleep: your baby can't pull the bag over their face or get tangled in it, whereas loose blankets increase the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).
  • Steady temperature: babies can't kick it off, so they wake less often and are less likely to overheat or get cold.
  • Freedom to move: the body stays covered while the legs have room to kick, which supports healthy hip development.
  • Bedtime routine: putting on the sleeping bag signals to your baby that it's time to sleep.

Which Jollein sleeping bags are available?

Removable sleeves are especially handy in spring and autumn: when the room warms up, simply zip them off and the same bag works for milder nights. See every model in the Jollein collection or browse all baby sleeping bags.

Which TOG rating should you choose?

The TOG rating tells you how warm a sleeping bag is. What matters most is not the season but the temperature of the room your baby sleeps in.

21–23 °C1.0 TOG
16–20 °C2.0–2.5 TOG

Also think about what your baby wears underneath. You'll find a detailed chart with clothing for every temperature in our baby sleeping bag TOG chart.

Which size should you choose?

Bag lengthApproximate age
60 cm0–3 months
70 cm3–6 months
90 cm6–18 months

The most important thing is the fit around the neck and shoulders: your baby must not be able to slip down inside the bag. If you're between two sizes, check the age and length listed on the product page.

Why choose Jollein sleeping bags

Dutch brand Jollein is known for baby products that combine comfort with modern design. Their sleeping bags are made from soft cotton that is gentle on sensitive skin, have a zip for easy dressing and undressing, and feature prints designed in Jollein's own studio. They are machine washable, so they cope well with everyday use. Check the care label of your chosen model for washing and drying instructions.

Using a sleeping bag safely

  • Always put your baby to sleep on their back, on a firm, flat mattress with no pillows or soft toys.
  • Don't combine the sleeping bag with a blanket or a second sleeping bag.
  • Check your baby's temperature on the back of the neck or chest; if the skin is hot or sweaty, choose a lower TOG or lighter clothing.
  • Don't put a hat on your baby for sleep indoors.
  • Choose the right size for your child's height and age.
  • Stop using a sleeping bag once your child can climb out of the cot.

Frequently asked questions

From what age can a baby sleep in a Jollein sleeping bag?

From birth, as long as the bag fits well around the neck and shoulders. For newborns, choose the 60 cm length.

Which Jollein sleeping bag is best for winter?

For rooms below 16 °C, choose a 3.0–3.5 TOG bag with the sleeves on. In a heated home at 16–20 °C, remove the sleeves for 2.0–2.5 TOG.

Does my baby need a blanket as well as a sleeping bag?

No. The sleeping bag replaces the blanket; adding one increases the risk of overheating and of the face being covered.

Can I machine wash the sleeping bag?

Yes, Jollein sleeping bags are machine washable. Check the care label for temperature and drying, and close the zip before washing.

How do I know if my baby is too warm?

Feel the back of the neck or the chest. If the skin is hot, sweaty or red, your baby is too warm. Cool hands and feet are normal.
